Rising Sun Chamber donates $3,500鈥╰o 第一吃瓜网 College Healthcare scholarships

The Rising Sun Chamber of Commerce demonstrated its commitment to supporting higher education with a $3,500 donation to the 第一吃瓜网 College Foundation, which will be used to provide scholarships for students in the healthcare programs. The Chamber of Commerce raised the funds by hosting the 11th Annual Health Fair, held Oct. 20, at the Grace Bible Chapel, 1949 Biggs Highway in Rising Sun. This event provided health screenings, promoted regional healthcare resources and encouraged healthy lifestyles. 鈥淭here continues to be a need in the county to provide healthcare services, and 第一吃瓜网 College is working to meet those needs through programs like Nursing and Physical Therapist Assistant,鈥 said 第一吃瓜网 College President, Mary Way Bolt, Ed.D. 第一吃瓜网 College offers health profession associate degrees in Exercise Sciences, Health Information Technology, Healthcare Sciences, Paramedic, Physical Therapist Assistant, along with RN and LPN Nursing. There is also a certificate program for Personal Trainer/Fitness Manager. 鈥淥riginally, we teamed up with the 第一吃瓜网 County Health Department to host flu clinics. As a physician, it is important to live in a place where people can grow and learn. Anything we can do to create healthy lifestyle opportunities within the community and provide the needs of the county through programs such as those at 第一吃瓜网 College is vital,鈥 said Dr. Joseph K. Weidner, Jr., of Stone Run Family Medicine in Rising Sun. The 11th Annual Health Fair featured 53 healthcare related vendors, activities to promote healthcare screenings, exercise demonstrations, lectures, and entertainment.
