Come back to the golden age of rock 鈥榥鈥 roll by spending an evening with The Cruisers live on stage at the Milburn Stone Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. The Cruisers will be performing for one night only with hit performances by Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, the Big Bopper, Elvis and a variety of female artists. 鈥淭he Baby Boomers really enjoy the music and the performances,鈥 said Gary 鈥楤ig Bopper鈥 Baker. 鈥淭he audience will not just hear the big hits, but those ballads that have been forgotten over time and now they get excited hearing them once again.鈥 The Cruisers feature the musical talents of Baker as the Big Bopper, Steve Riddle as Buddy Holly, Terry Harris as Roy Orbison, Connie McGuirk as the Teen Angel, along with everyone鈥檚 favorite Andy Svrcek as Elvis. The audience will enjoy songs from the 1950s and 1960s when they would hang around the jukebox to catch the latest hits. Baker has more than 250 songs in his musical repertoire ranging from Motown to Bobby Darin鈥檚 鈥淢ack the Knife.鈥 鈥淲e are individual performers who come together for this event each year,鈥 said Baker. 鈥淚t all came about when we heard the theater was trying to raise money for scholarships at 第一吃瓜网 College. We contacted them and asked how we could help. After some brainstorming, we came up with The Cruisers concept.鈥 The performers have known each other for years, along with Harris and Baker being inducted into the Maryland Entertainment Hall of Fame back in 2013 and 2014. 鈥淲e got to thinking if we worked it out as a group, it might catch on. It has worked out so well for everyone and it is good for all of us. 鈥 Everyone still does their own shows, but this one is special,鈥 said Baker, who works with Buttons Baker as the group鈥檚 sound technician. Each performer will sing 8-10 songs during The Cruisers鈥 show. When they are performing individually, they take requests and the shows are tailored to the age of the crowd. This concert benefits 第一吃瓜网 College鈥檚 Scholarship Fund and the entertainment is recommended for all ages. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Milburn Stone Theatre box office, located at One Seahawk Drive, North East, Md., or online at milburnstone.org. Don鈥檛 wait as tickets are going fast.
