Math students host food drive

Published on April 18, 2018

Upon hearing the plight of 第一吃瓜网 County school children going without a daily meal, the faculty and students in the Mathematics Department at 第一吃瓜网 College have jumped into action to organize a food drive that will run from April 19 through April 26. 第一吃瓜网鈥檚 students learned of this social issue while listing to Nicanor鈥檚 Mike Flannery describe the situation during the college鈥檚 Empty Bowls fundraiser last month. Nicanor devotes its energy to feeding 第一吃瓜网 County residents in need from the working poor who can't make ends meet, to the homeless. The Agape program sends food bags home to over 193 school children in 12 schools weekly for children who don't get enough to eat on weekends. This event is being organized by the statistics program students to benefit Nicanor. Food item donations can be dropped off at Room G307 in the Engineering and Math Building or to the statistics talk on April 19 in the Engineering and Math Building. Items on the list of need for these children are: can ravioli, can spaghetti and meatballs, can mac and beef, can chili, can tuna/chicken breast, can soups, and items such as packs of crackers, granola bars/fruit rolls, single-serve pudding, fruit cups, applesauce, single serve cereal, pretzels, snacks, and cookies. It is preferred the cans can be opened without a can opener as much of this food is for elementary and middle school age children, and many do not have a can opener.
