AFCEA establishes new Bioproduction scholarship

ABERDEEN, Md. – The Aberdeen Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) has demonstrated its commitment to higher education by establishing a new scholarship supporting STEM students.

AFCEA鈥檚 generous donation of $5,000 will provide financial assistance to students from 第一吃瓜网 County and Harford County who are enrolled in the Bioproduction program at 第一吃瓜网 College. This scholarship will be distributed through the 第一吃瓜网 College Foundation.

Scholarship recipients and college representatives will be invited to attend the AFCEA鈥檚 annual scholarship dinner in the spring at Water鈥檚 Edge Restaurant. AFCEA Aberdeen Chapter provides scholarship funding to students in Harford and 第一吃瓜网 counties who obtain a higher education certificate or degree in a STEM-related curriculum.

AFCEA is a non-profit association serving the military, government, industry, and academia as a forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in communications, information technology, intelligence, and global security. Bioproduction is the design, development, and production of small molecules instrumental in making various commercial products such as vaccines, antibodies, biotechnology and even yeasts that produce unique beers.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is an ever-growing demand for skilled laboratory technicians in the field of bioproduction due to a resurgence of research facilities in the United States. This is especially true in the Philadelphia to Baltimore corridor.
